House mice can squeeze through gaps as small as a pencil’s width, making them notoriously difficult to keep out with anything short of thorough sealing. They nest close to food sources, often behind appliances, inside wall voids, or in cluttered storage areas, and reproduce quickly once settled in.
Droppings, gnaw marks on packaging, and a stale odor along baseboards are common early signs. Because mice can contaminate food and chew through wiring and insulation, a combination of exclusion work, sanitation, and targeted trapping or baiting gives the most reliable control.
