Wolf spiders are large, robust spiders that hunt prey on the ground rather than spinning webs to catch it. Their size and quick movements can make them alarming to encounter, but they are not aggressive toward people and bites are rare and generally no worse than a bee sting.
They typically live outdoors in leaf litter, woodpiles, and garden beds, occasionally wandering indoors through gaps under doors or foundation cracks while hunting. Sealing entry points and keeping firewood and debris away from the foundation reduces indoor encounters.
